Nansi and David are fine artists, widely respected for their pioneering work in bringing ocean life and coral reefs to canvas. A passion for ocean conservation and a love of diving and snorkeling the world's tropical coral reefs led them around the globe on a search for the perfect tropical island studio.
Today, they are designing that studio on Molono Island, Vanuatu. In addition to the studio, the couple are designing a low-impact eco-paradise as a personal residence, with the idea that it could also serve as the perfect romantic getaway for honeymoons and romantic celebrations.
Please follow their progress on this site to learn about opportunities to visit the one of the most luxurious private island escapes in the world. To learn more about their artwork, visit www.artofthedive.com .
Our Vision:
We want to build a modern home, where romance meets barefoot elegance. This home would also have a beautiful art studio where we can be inspired by world class diving and snorkeling, and create on the spot while the inspiration is fresh. The moment we set foot on Molono Island, we knew we had found our second home.
We love our home in California, and all of our friends and family there. We envision spending about half of our time in California, and half in Vanuatu. When we are in California, we would like to share our little tropical paradise with adventurous and romantic couples who seek the ultimate in privacy and luxury.
The home we build will be romantic for two, but inviting for extended family and close friends.
Honeymoon Bungalow
Honeymoon Studio, comes with entire island. The single room home is elegant but humble, but the real experience of Molono Island is the untouched nature on the island and the pristine reef surrounding it.
The west side of the island is gentle and sandy, perfect for swimming, kayaking, and sunbathing. The East side is cooled by trade winds and buffered from open sea by a barrier reef about a mile away from our house reef. Only gentle waves caress the shores, but these cooler waters bring nutrients to help fish and corals thrive. The island's interior is dominated by tall, high-canopied shade trees.
Wild Parrots and tropical birds are common visitors to the island. Catch a glimpse of them as you wander the island's manicured pathways through patches of the orchids, ginger and fruits which grow wild on the island. Take in their fragrance mixed with fresh ocean air on a warm trade wind, take a sip of a fresh coconut, and find yourself truly at home.
